This is the second time that we have chosen to donate to the Amazon Rainforest. We have done so, because it is the largest rainforest ecosystem in the world. It stretches across nine countries and is home to an estimated 10% of the world's species. It is one of the most biodiverse places on earth and provides a habitat for iconic species such as the Jaguar, Macaw, Amazon River Dolphin, Black Spider Monkey, and Poison Dart Frog. Moreover, The Amazon Rainforest holds an estimated 90-140 billion metric tons of carbon, which are vital in combating climate change. However, due to logging, unsustainable agricultural practices, and forest fires, it faces significant risks of deforestation and degradation
Planting trees in the Amazons is important in order to:
- Protect & restore primary forests to stabilize the climate
- Conserve habitat for the Amazon Rainforest's iconic wildlife species
- Provide sustainable livelihoods to local people through agroforestry
